Universal Metal Coating Company (Unicoil), a global steel and aluminum producer in Saudi Arabia, has opted for a WS 450 S x 5,000 CNC Monolith™ roll grinder for its roll shop. “Due to the changing, higher demands with reference to the end product, it was time for Unicoil to look for a new partner who could achieve the required qualities in terms of grinding performance and surface quality of the rolls, resulting in a flawless product,” explains the responsible Senior Sales and Project Manager Tobias Wurm.

Unicoil was then able to see the performance and quality of the machine for itself at the headquarters in Siegen for a preliminary acceptance test. "Thanks to the patented Monolith™ technology, the machine is installed directly on the floor without a cost-intensive foundation. The innovative sandwich design dampens the machine bed, minimizes vibrations and thus guarantees the most homogeneous roll surfaces," Tobias Wurm continues. “The measuring and control systems specially developed for Herkules machines are the only ones in the world that allow correction grinding on the fly. By using the C-Frame Caliper, combined with the ultra-fast KP 10 machine control system, geometric errors and unnecessary operations are effectively avoided."
